Iran Military In Full Control Of Persian Gulf & The Strait Of Hormuz: Naval Commander

Unic Press UK: The Naval Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran is in full control of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, says the head of the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) General Alireza Tangsiri.

Speaking Monday, General Tangsiri said:

“In the Persian Gulf, the IRGC Navy and in the Sea of Oman, the naval forces of the Army are prepared to defend the waters with their intelligence dominance and monitoring of the enemy’s physical presence. There is no need for foreigners such as the United States and the countries whose home is not here. Their presence in the region is detrimental to security and does not bring about any security. We have a full command over the Persian Gulf and our presence in the region is physical, constant and round-the-clock. It would be meaningless that Iran cannot export its oil while others in the region can. Do this if you can and see the consequences,” the Press TV reports.

The Strait of Hormuz is a major shipping route, through which tankers transport oil.

In 2016, circa 18.6 million barrels of crude oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz per day. In fact, it is a vital oil route, accounting for a third of the world’s sea-borne oil shipment per day. It is indeed a strategic point, which links the Middle East oil merchants to the various key markets in Asia, North America, Europe, and so on.

In July 2018, the IRGCs threatened to block this vital oil route as retaliation for scathing U.S. sanctions.
