Unic Press UK: Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has denied reports by several media organisations that it colluded with several banks to stop the remittance of a total of $793.2 million, which were allegedly stashed away in banks’ in contravention of the principles behind the use of Treasury Single Account (TSA).
In a statement by the group general manager in-charge of the group’s public affairs, Ndu Ughamadu, the NNPC said that the Central Bank of Nigeria is supervising the remittance of £231.8 million to the Treasury Single Account, viz: $174.4 million deposited in Diamond Bank, $40.7 million in Skye Bank and $16.7 million in Keystone Bank.
The NNPC further explained that it was the first entity that informed the Presidency, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the existence of the said accounts prior to the creation of the Federal Government Asset Recovery Account, insisting that no entity should be paid any monies for whistle-blowing.
The NNPC reiterated its commitment to transparency, due diligence and accountability.
