Unic Press UK: The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, in one of the remarks during his annual ‘Direct Line’ call-in show says the world is not on the brink of a world war and should there be another war, Russia cannot be defeated.
Making a reference to a recent row between London and Moscow over the alleged encroachment of a British ship in Russia’s territory and claiming that his country is being provoked by the West and U.S., President Putin said:
“Even if we had sunk that ship, it would still be hard to imagine that the world would be on the brink of World War 3…. those who are doing this know that they can’t get out of this war victorious. That’s a very important thing.”
Putin denounces what he described as the violation of Russian territorial waters by British warship HMS Defender, claiming it is a “provocation”, accusing the U.S. of egging on the UK in the incident that occurred near Crimea – a peninsula invaded and annexed by Russia in 2014. However, neither the U.S. nor the UK accepts Putin’s claim that Crimea is part of the Russian Federation.
