Unic Press UK: In the 2020 Global Terrorism Index (GTI), Nigeria is the third most terrorised country in the world. Afghanistan tops the chart, followed by Iraq in the second position.

The insecurity in Nigeria has worsened under the current administration. Last week, it was in the news that armed bandits had kidnapped a number of senior Police officers, holding them captive for several days.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has denounced the rising insecurity in northern Nigeria, calling for a national dialogue for a broad deliberation on the problem and the several challenges facing the country.
Abubakar, who spoke during a meeting of Nigeria Inter Religious Council (NIREC) held in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, said: There is an urgent need to sit down in a very serious national dialogue, and deliberate on the key issues in the hope that resourceful, distinguished Nigerians who can proffer solutions to the problems, including rising cases of insecurity in parts of the country.
