Famine, Drought Killing People In Southern Madagascar

Unic Press UK: Famine is killing people in the southern part of the island of Madagascar, said France 24 in a report.

The cause of death in the area includes drought, food insecurity, poor governance, rural banditry, predatory businesses, chronic malnutrition.

Locals say 15 people have starved to death recently, including several children. However, there are experts on the ground whose position is that the death tool is much higher.

According to Action Against Hunger, a not-for-profit organisation that seeks to create a better way to deal with hunger, a lack of rainfall and a powerful El Nino phenomenon in 2019 in Madagascar, led to the loss of 90% of the harvest and pushed more than 60% of the population into food insecurity.
