Unic Press UK: A pledge made by the Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, to rejig the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to be more professional and ethical in conduct draws a barrage of criticisms as many people recalled that the president made same pledge several times as far back as during his first term in office.
In a tweet, President Buhari said: “I met again with the IGP tonight. Our determination to reform the police should never be in doubt. I am being briefed regularly on the reform efforts ongoing to end police brutality and unethical conduct, and ensure that the Police are fully accountable to the people.” The president added that a “vast majority” of the NPF personnel are “patriotic and committed”.
