Unic Press UK: A lawyer for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Aloy Ejimakor, has denounced the killing Sunday of a number of IPOB members who had converged in Emene, Enugu State, for a peaceful meeting.
While the law enforcement agents issued a statement saying their patrol team was “attacked” in Emene by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the group has alleged that it lost 21 members who died from bullet wounds.
In a statement, Ejimakor said:
“A famous Nigerian politician once said (in spirited defense of the Yoruba) that ‘before I became a Nigerian, I was Yoruba”. Another person said: ‘We will write this for all to read. Anyone, soldier or not that kills the Fulani takes a loan repayable one day no matter how long it takes. The Yoruba has, in moderation, said his own. The Fulani has, in extremism, said his own. Let me now, as an Igbo, say my own, and here it is: Whoever takes the life of an IPOB member is taking the life of an Igbo and therefore will ultimately account to Ndigbo. It’s not a threat; it’s a fact,” the Premium Times, Nigeria, reports.
Reacting to the shooting, which led to the maiming/death of many IPOB members on Sunday, the leader of the group Nnamdi Kanu said “the world has lost its conscience.”
“Oduduwa Amotekun are armed, Fulani Miyetti Allah are armed, Fulani terror herdsmen are armed, Fulani funded Bandits are armed, Fulani Ansaru Brigade are armed. They all gather in public without any military or police interference but as soon as Biafran youths congregate in any location to pray, every Nigerian military formation including POLICE, DSS, ARMY, AIR FORCE stationed in the vicinity will descend on them and start firing indiscriminately with the intention of killing as many innocent souls as possible because IPOB is an unarmed peaceful movement. Most shocking of all is that lazy, evil & wicked Nigerian journalists will refer to such unprovoked attack as a CLASH… The world has lost its conscience. We Biafrans MUST defend our lives. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!”
