17 July 2020. Voice of Nigeria: The House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Interim Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Kemebradikumo Pondei, to respond to questions on allegations levelled against them.
They are to appear unfailingly before the investigative Committee on Monday, to answer questions on allegations against them and other related issues.
The House Committee on NDDC issued the summon at the continuation of its investigative hearing into the alleged missing ₦40 billion from NDDC funds.
The Committee also directed that the summon on the Minister and the Acting Managing Director be served on them through the media or any other substitute means.
Meanwhile, the immediate past Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Mrs Joy Nunieh, has testified before the committee via Zoom, where she made grave allegations against the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.
She accused him of contract scams and other corrupt practices in the Commission.
The ex-NDDC boss was to testify before the Committee on Thursday but was prevented from travelling to Abuja following an early morning siege to her residence in Port Harcourt by armed policemen.
