Buhari Reads Riot Act To Ministers, MDAs, Chief Executives On Relationship With NASS

Unic Press UK: Following a 1-hour meeting with the National Assembly leadership, which had in attendance the Senate President, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, President Muhammadu Buhari has warned that his administration cannot condone any disrespect to the legislative body.

In a press release Friday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity), Garba Shehu, said:

“… the President re-emphasized his utmost respect for the National Assembly, adding that any disrespect to the institution by any member of the executive branch will not be accepted. Ministers and all heads of Departments and Agencies should at all times conduct themselves in ways that will not undermine the National Assembly as an institution, its leadership and members.”

This week, there was a rift between the House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Commission’s interim management team. The head of the interim management committee and acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Kemebradikumo Pondei, along with some of the commission’s staff walked out today in protest during a session of the House Committee investigating allegations of funds misappropriation/misapplication in the NDDC.
