10 July 2020. Voice of Nigeria: Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate suspension of Ibrahim Magu as Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
This is contained in a statement signed by Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice on Friday.
The move is to allow unhindered inquiry by the Presidential Investigation Panel set up by the government to investigate some allegations levelled against the former anti-graft agency’s boss in accordance with the Nigeria laws.
According to the statement, President Muhammadu Buhari has also approved that the agency’s Director of Operations, Mr. Mohammed Umar, take charge and oversee the activities of the Commission pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
