Nigeria: Chief Justice Swears In Justice Mensem As President Court Of Appeal

19 June 2020. Voice of Nigeria: The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammed, Friday swore in Justice Monica Dangban-Mensem as president of the Court of Appeal in a ceremony held at the Supreme Court.

Justice Tanko charged Justice Mensem to maintain the credibility of the Appeal Court while challenging her to live up to expectations.

The CJN also reminded her of the extent of work on her hands upon resuming at her new office as President of the Appeal Court.

The newly sworn-in Appeal Court President assured Nigerians of her commitment to putting the needed energy towards delivering quality leadership in the interest of the justice system.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on 9th June sought the Senate’s Confirmation of Justice Dongban-Mensem as president of the Court of Appeal, that which was subsequently confirmed a day later.

The Senate on 10th June confirmed Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem as the president of Court of Appeal, a position she had served in an acting capacity since 2019.

Justice Dongban-Mensem has spent 40 years in the judiciary spanning from 1980 till date.
