Pope Francis Appeals To Nations For Peace After 8 Mass Graves Discovered In Libya

Unic Press UK: Pope Francis has appealed to nations and international bodies to solve the Libyan crisis and end the civil war after several mass graves were discovered in the country by the United Nations.

“I urge international bodies and those who have political and military responsibilities to recommence with conviction and resolve the search for a path towards an end to the violence, leading to peace, stability and unity in the country. I call on the international community to please take their plight to heart, identifying pathways and providing means to provide them with the protection they need, a dignified condition and a hopeful future… Let us all pray for Libya”, Pope Francis said Sunday during his Angelus address.

The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) had on Thursday said that at least eight graves have been discovered in Tarhouna, around 100 kilometres southeast of the capital, Tripoli, calling on the Libyan authorities to “secure the mass graves, identify the victims, establish causes of death and return the bodies to their next of kin”.
