Unic Press UK: The Times of Israel reports that thousands of people protested Saturday in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square over a coalition deal between Likud Party leader and Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and the Blue and White Party leader Benny Gantz.
The key speakers during the peaceful demonstration named “black flag” alleged that the so-called unity deal by the two political parties is an affront to Israel’s basic law and the authority of the Knesset. The “black flag” moniker comes from demonstrators pinning black flags on their vehicles/homes to symbolize they Netanyahu’s continued stay in power is a danger to Israel’s democracy.
It was on Monday that a joint statement between the Blue and White party and Likud party disclosed that an agreement had been reached to form a “national emergency government.”
