Nigeria Would Implement Tripartite Resolution On Border – President Buhari

Unic Press UK: The Nigerian government would abide by the decision of the 3-nation committee on the country’s land borders, the Voice of Nigeria reports, citing President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari in company with outgoing President of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), Mr Bashir Mamman Ifo, and the incoming President of the Bank, Dr George Nana Donkor, spoke at Aso Rock saying:

“We have saved millions of dollars. We have realised that we don’t have to import rice. We have achieved food security. We have curtailed the importation of drugs and the proliferation of small arms which threaten our country,’’ the President said.

It was in August 2019 that Nigeria ordered a partial shutdown of the land border its shores and Benin. Thereafter, in December of the same year, the Nigerian government banned the import/export of goods via its land border in what the comptroller-general of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali said is a measure to “ensure we have total control over what comes in.”
