Deputy Senate President Omo-Agege Should Show Evidence Of His Acquittal In U.S

Unic Press UK: The Coalition of Civil Society and Youth Groups in Nigeria (CCSYGN) is demanding that he Deputy President of the Nigeria Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, should present the so-called papers that he claims had been issued by a U.S. court absolving him of an allegation of perjury in the United States, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

In a press statement Wednesday in the capital city of Nigeria, Abuja, the CCSYGN convener, Solomon Adodo reiterated the position of the group that Senator Omo-Agege (APC-Delta Central) should be prosecuted for perjury, because he lied by concealing the fact that he had been convicted by the State Bar Court of California, U.S.

The CCSYGN alleges that one Augustine O. Omo-Agege, who is believed to be the same Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, was suspended from law practice in 22 April 1996 for violating Section 470 of the California Penal Code.

Also at the Wednesday press statement, the CCSYGN said it submitted a petition to the National Assembly, the security agencies,the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) president, National Security Adviser, and the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
