Somalian President Mohamed Farmajo Renounces U.S. Nationality

Unic Press UK: The Somalian President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has renounced his United States nationality, a country where he had lived for many years as a student and employee.

Farmajo is the 9th and the current President of Federal Republic of Somalia. He was sworn in as Somali president in February 8, 2017.

A statement on the official twitter channel for President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo’s office reads:

“This is to officially announce that the President of The Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E @M_Farmaajo, has relinquished his US citizenship. This follows the completion of the required legal and immigration processes that had been initiated after the president’s election. The Provisional Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia allows for dual citizenship. The President, however, voluntarily filed for the renunciation.”

Somalia is on Washington’s list of seven countries [Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Iraq,  Syria, and Yemen] whose citizens were, on   temporarily banned from entering the U.S. by virtue of the ‘Executive Order Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United State’ inked by President Donald Trump.
