Malaysia Disapproves Int’l Investigation Team Findings On Downed Airlines Flight MH17

Unic Press UK: The Malaysian Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad disapproves the findings of a Dutch-led Joint Investigation Team (JIT) that blames the Russia Federation over the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 that was shot down over Ukrainian territory in July 2014.

“They aren’t really looking at the causes of the crash and who was responsible, but already they have decided that it must be Russia. We cannot accept that kind of attitude,” the Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad told a Dutch journalist Max van der Werff during an interview/documentary.

When reminded that the Malaysian authorities were not incorporated as member of the Dutch-led joint investigation team (JIT) for circa six months after the airplane crash, the Prime Minister said:

“This is unfair and unusual. The plane is ours and there were Malaysians flying in the plane. They also died. So, it’s natural that Malaysia should be the first country that should be involved in the investigation, but they insist, well they didn’t insist, they just ignored us, took the black box and carried out their own investigation.”

In its report the Dutch Safety Board (DSB) said in 2015 that a Soviet-made Buk anti-aircraft missile was used to down the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine in July 2014. While an international Joint Investigation Team (JIT) led by Netherlands found that the Russian separatists had fired a Buk missile that destroyed the airplane, and killed passengers/crew on board.
