Certificate Saga: Appeal Court Reserves Judgment In Suit Challenging Buhari’s Eligibility

Unic Press UK: The Court of Appeal, Abuja Judicial Division, has reserved judgment in the case that questions the eligibility of President Muhammadu Buhari to contest the Presidential Election 2019, the Daily Post, Nigeria, reports.

The three-member panel of the Court of Appeal is chaired by Justice Atinuke Akomolafe-Wilson.

The counsel to the appellant, Ukpai Ukairo submitted that Buhari did not possess the required educational qualification to contest the Presidential Election 2019; and therefore should not be chosen as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flag-bearer.

The counsel to Muhammadu Buhari, Abdullahi Abubakar based his submission on the time the case was filed, insisting that it is statute-barred – filed out of time stipulated by the law.

The appellant filed this matter in the Court of Appeal after a Federal High Court ruled that the suit is statute-barred.
