Unic Press UK: The Government of Ireland published Monday an aggressive plan ‘Climate Action Plan 2019: To Tackle Climate Breakdown,’ hoping to place/sustain a low-carbon environment and economy.
The plan includes accelerating the take up of Electric Vehicles (EVs) to reach 100%, and have 950,000 EVs on the road by 2030; a new commitment that 70% of the country’s electricity needs would be sourced from renewable sources by 2030; and a decarbonization pathway to 2030 that is consistent with the adoption of a net zero carbon energy system objective by 2050.
The Irish government further added that it would increase the level and the quality of recycling; and eliminate non-recyclable plastics by 2030 in line with EU directives.
