U.S. Capacity For Pressure Against Iran Is Waning, Says President Hassan Rouhani

Unic Press UK: The Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said Wednesday that the United States capacity to mount pressure on the Islamic Republic is debilitating, losing steam.

It was during a cabinet meeting Wednesday that President Rouhani reiterate his disdain for the U.S. pressure on Iran; and accused the U.S. of deploying “economic terrorism” on Iran, saying:

“The Iranian nation shall know that America’s pressure against our country has reached its maximum point, and the capacity [to apply pressure] is practically nearing its end. From this point on, these sanctions and pressure will lose their capacity [to cause harm] and will dry up,” the Press TV reports.

There has been serious tensions between the two countries since May 8, 2018 when the U.S. President Donald Trump inked an Executive Order that terminated the U.S. participation in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA); and followed up U.S. sanctions against Iran. Trump had claimed that the JCPOA – Iran nuclear deal – had been a bad one for the world and America, insisting that a new agreement is long overdue.

Washington says it’s open to a negotiation, but Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif said in May 2019 that there won’t be talks, labeling the U.S. a “bully.”
