White House Tells Former Counsel McGahn Not To Comply With Congressional Subpoena

Unic Press UK: The White House has instructed its former counsel, Donald F. McGahn II, to ignore a subpoena served on him by the Committee on the Judiciary of the United States House of Representatives.

In a letter dated May 7, 2019 to McGahn’s attorney William A. Burck the current White House counsel Pat A. Cipollone said:

“I write per your request in reference to a subpoena issued to your client, Donald F. McGahn II, by the Committee on the Judiciary of the United States House of Representatives (the “Committee”)… the Acting Chief of Staff to the President, Mick Mulvancy, directs Mr. McGahn not to produce these White House records in response to the Committee’s April 22 subpoena.”

On April 22, 2019 the Committee on the Judiciary of the United States House of Representatives had served a subpoena on the former White House counsel McGahn, compelling the production of documents in his control by May 7, 2019 and a testimony on May 21, 2019.
