Trump: U.S. Would Withdraw From United Nations Arms Trade Treaty

Unic Press UK: The United States would withdraw from the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, President Donald Trump said Friday during the National Rifle Association (NRA) annual convention.

“Under my administration, we will never surrender American sovereignty to anyone. We will never allow foreign diplomats to trample on your Second Amendment freedom. The United Nations will soon receive a formal notice that America is rejecting this treaty.”

The Treaty, which was approved in April 2013 by the United Nations General Assembly to regulate global trading in conventional arms, does not meet well with the NRA and several other gun activists.

Reacting to the Trump administration decision, Kris Brown, who heads Brady – an organisation advocating an end to gun violence –  wrote on Twitter:

“By denouncing the Global Arms Treaty, @realDonaldTrump will only embolden terrorists and other dangerous actors around the world. This is a reckless move that will endanger countless Americans and other innocent people worldwide. #NRAAM #EndGunViolence.”
