Unic Press UK: The European Council president Donald Tusk says he will seek European Union (EU) leaders seal for a long extension of the United Kingdom’s date of exit from the EU.
Tusk is reacting to the decision of the UK Parliament to either extend the two-year deadline to 30 June if the UK prime minister Theresa May’s rejigged deal is approved by Parliament next week, or seek a much longer extension if the PM’s deal is rejected by the lawmakers.
“… I will appeal to the EU27 to be open to a long extension if the UK finds it necessary to rethink its #Brexit strategy and build consensus around it,” Tusk writes on Twitter.
During my consultations ahead of #EUCO, I will appeal to the EU27 to be open to a long extension if the UK finds it necessary to rethink its #Brexit strategy and build consensus around it.
