Unic Press UK: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Nigeria has postponed the Nigeria General Election 2019 to 23rd February, 2019 for Presidential and National Assembly, while the Governorship and State House of Assembly and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Elections is to hold on 9th March, 2019.
INEC chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said the decision to rejig the dates for the General Elections is based on its assessment of the implementation of the logistics and operational plan.

Muhammadu Buhari: “I am deeply disappointed that despite the long notice given and our preparations both locally and internationally, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the Presidential and National Assembly elections within hours of its commencement.”
Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) 1st national spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere: The Presidency mounted pressure on the Commission to conduct election today in states where there were no issues and postpone only the states with materials distribution issues. The INEC Chairman insisted on conducting the election at the same time hence warranting the postponement of the entire election.
The leading opposition party, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP): “This decision by @inecnigeria is a grand plot to give the @OfficialAPCNg and the @MBuhari Presidency the space to perfect their rigging plans, which have been resisted by Nigerians to this point. The @OfficialPDPNig therefore stands with Nigerians at this critical moment and urge them to stand together in the overall interest of our nation. Our party appreciates the sacrifices and commitment made by Nigerians at this moment due to this unfortunate postponement,” the PDP wrote on Twitter.
