Corruption In Nigeria Is “Truly Staggering” – EFCC Chairman

Unic Press UK: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu described the level of corruption in Nigeria as “truly staggering.”

Speaking in Abuja during a conference organized by the Online Publishers Association of Nigeria, Mr Magu, who was represented by the EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, said that “the various investigations, arrests, prosecution, and asset recoveries we have been undertaking at the EFCC over the years have confirmed that the level of corruption in Nigeria us truly staggering,” the Daily Post of Nigeria reports.

Magu reminded the participants at the conference that a report in 2015, “Illicit Financial Flow (“IFF”) Report of the High Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa,” of the AU/ECA Conference of Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development illustrated that Nigeria had a cumulative IFFs of US$217.7 billion in a review period spanning 38 years, from 1970 to 2008.
