PART 3: “Lagos Is A Glorified Village… No Water, There Are No Roads” – Rotimi Amaechi

Unic Press UK: In Part 3 of a leaked audio tape, the minister of transport of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and director-general of President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign organisation, Rotimi Amaechi could be heard describing the Lagos State of Nigeria as a “glorified village.”

“I live in Abuja, tell me where else we have infrastructure. Lagos is a glorified village. The only difference between Lagos and other cities is the fact that business is in Lagos, everybody is there doing business, so you can at least have food. If not, what do you have in Lagos? 1,000 plus megawatts. That’s all. That’s what you have. What else do you have? No water, there are no roads. The reason why you meet traffic jams in Lagos is because there are no roads,” he said.

Part 2:

These are not things you publish… If you publish them, you will never sit with me any day. Three years of Buhari, everybody is dying, crying, crying…pressmen are crying, farmers are crying, workers are crying, politicians are crying, students are crying, three years ooh. The rate of poverty is very high. The people are hungry. Nigeria will never change!”

Part 1:

“The president is not listening to anybody. He doesn’t care. You can write what you want to write, the president doesn’t care. Does he read? He will read, he will laugh. He will say come come come they are abusing me here. In fact there was one case of somebody in Onitsha, a trader, who couldn’t sale his goats during Sallah, and I was with Oga [President] in the plane, and the man was busy abusing Buhari that because of Buhari nobody is buying his goat. And he [President] said, Amaechi come, what’s my business with Onitsha goat seller? This country can’t change… This country can never change, I swear. The only way this country can change is in a situation where everybody is killed. When Magnus [Abe] was my SSG [Secretary of the Rivers State Government], I told him this country is hopeless, hopeless and helpless… two months in Abuja, he [Magnus] said this country is hopeless and helpless. All they do in Abuja is to share money.”

It was on January 4, 2019 that Reno Omokri, who had served as special assistant to the president during the Goodluck Jonathion term of office, leaked the first audio recording; and added a second on January 6. Reno has promised to release Part 4.
