Former Nigerian President, Shehu Shagari Is Dead

Unic Press UK: Nigerian politician and former president Shehu Shagari, 93, Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) died Friday at the National Hospital, FCT Abuja, Nigeria, says his grandchild Bello Shagari.

I regret announcing the death of my grandfather, H.E Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who died right now after brief illness at the National hospital, Abuja.

Shagari, who was elected as the president of Nigeria in 1979, served from October 1, 1979 to December 31, 1983 when his government was toppled by the Nigerian military in a coup d’état, would be buried today in line with Islamic tradition.
