APC Blames Opposition Over Booing President Buhari At Parliament

Unic Press UK: During his presentation of the 2019 Appropriation Bill to the 8th National Assembly on Wednesday, the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari was booed/interrupted several times by the lawmakers in a way that expresses disagreement with the submission of the president on several issues.

At several points during his speech, President Buhari, whose ₦8.83 trillion ($24.2 billion) budget proposal was laid Wednesday before a joint session of the 8th National Assembly was booed/jeered. When he said that “the Nigerian economy has recovered. . . ,”; the statement triggered a round of boos (sometimes jeers) from a number of lawmakers. A combination of boos/jeers also eclipsed the president’s voice when he claimed that the current administration had recorded progress on all fronts.

According to many of the local media in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC) blames the opposition political parties for booing/jeering President Buhari.

Expressing disapproval with the conduct of many lawmakers, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lanre Issa-Onilu said:

We condemn in strong terms the action by lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the presentation of the 2019 budget by President Mohammadu Buhari on Wednesday. Nigerians are not oblivious of the action and inaction of the National Assembly presiding officers, Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara while the President was being heckled by the PDP legislative caucus. . . the PDP members’ action was premeditated and orchestrated to embarrass the President.
