Nigerian Senate Passes Bill To Establish South East Development Commission

Unic Press UK: The Nigerian Senate has passed a Bill to establish a South East Development Commission after it was read a third time during today’s plenary session.

In his remark soon after the Bill was passed, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremmadu (PDP – Enugu West) said:

“This is one of those days where we should be proud to be members of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Every morning we pray that God should give us the grace to do those things that promote the peace and unity of this country. I believe that we have shown today that we are committed to the unity of this country; it is this unity that will ensure that we all have faith in our country Nigeria and this faith will guide us to pursue peace and progress. I would like to thank everyone for their commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria. May God bless Nigeria.”

Senator Shehu Sani (APC-Kaduna Central) welcomed the passing of the Bill, saying that: “The setting up of this Commission was aimed at addressing various issues in the region and ensure peace and stability. The entire country stands to gain from this Commission.”

The Senate adjourned to Thursday, 13th December, 2018.
