“It Is All About Us And Nigerians”, Says Peter Obi In Enugu

Unic Press UK: The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi and the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi met at the government house, Enugu, on Friday.

On his arrival at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, en route the Enugu State government house for a visit to Governor Ugwuanyi, Obi was warmly received by senior government officials and PDP apparatchiks, including the Enugu State PDP Chairman and the Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Governor, the Premium Times, Nigeria, reports.

Speaking when he met the governor, Obi said: “I have served as governor, so people know a bit of my record. I am here to say to you (Ugwuanyi), I remain one of you. Everybody knows that I believe in Enugu. I believe this is our capital and it remains so. Your Excellency, that is why I am here. I need your support and that of all of you. I assure that it is all about us and Nigerians, not about Peter Obi,” the Premium Times reports.

In his remarks, Governor Ugwuanyi described Obi as a “formidable and trusted party man”, an iconic son of Igboland, who had greatly excelled in private life as a successful businessperson and in public dealings as a former Governor of Anambra State.

Circa a week ago, the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar named the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi as his running mate for the 2019 General Election.

Obi, who is married and has children, is a notable successful investor and entrepreneur. He studied at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (B.A. Philosophy); Columbia Business School, New York, U.S.A. (Marketing Mgmt); Oxford University; Lagos Business School; Harvard Business School, Boston, U.S.A.; London School of Economics (Financial Mgmt/Business Policy); Institute for Management Development, Switzerland (Senior Executive Program); Kellogg Graduate School of Management, U.S.A.; and so on.
