Amazon Raises Minimum Wage To £10.50 For London Area; $15 For The U.S.

Unic Press UK: Online retail giant Amazon has raised its Minimum Wage to £10.50 for the London area and £9.50 for all the other parts of the UK, the company said Tuesday.

In a statement the company said that the new wage rate per hour would impact positively on its over 37,000 workforce – circa 17,000 Amazon employees, as well as over 20,000 seasonal employees.

“We’re excited to announce Amazon is raising our minimum wage for all full-time, part-time, seasonal, and temporary UK employees—effective November 1. This will impact more than 37,000 employees across the country, resulting in higher pay for them and their families,” said the Amazon VP and UK Country Manager  Doug Gurr.

Amazon also said that it would raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour for its United States employees
