Port Harcourt Is Venue For PDP National Convention & Presidential Primary

Unic Press UK: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) national convention and presidential primary would hold from 6 October to 7 October in Port Harcourt, the capital city of Rivers state, the party’s Governors’ Forum chair and Ekiti state Governor Ayodele Fayose disclosed Friday in Abuja.

Fayose, who spoke to journalists after an emergency meeting of the PDP’s National Executive Council (NEC), said: “We have taken a position that the convention will hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. Beyond this, there were assurances of free, fair election, and that the aspirants will accept the outcome of the result,” the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The top presidential aspirants of the PDP are: Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Atiku is one of the hitherto chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who decamped. Bukola Saraki, the Senate President and the former Kwara state governor, who also bolted from the APC to the PDP recently. Ahmed Makarfi, a former governor of Kaduna state and the former Caretaker Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano state. Kwankwaso is one of the Senators, who recently decamped from the APC. Aminu Tambuwal, the Sokoto state governor. A former governor of Jigawa state Sule Lamido. Others are a former Sokoto state governor Attahiru Bafarawa and the Gombe state governor Ibrahim Dankwambo.
