Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich Granted Citizenship Of Israel

Unic Press UK: Roman Abramovich, 51, the renowned billionaire-owner of the English premier league soccer club, Chelsea, has been granted citizenship by the Israeli government, the Times of Israel has reported, citing the country’s interior ministry.

Abramovich, Russian-Jewish, arrived Israel on board his private jet on Sunday via the Ben Gurion International Airport, and received an Israeli identity card under the country’s Law of Return that provides for a Jew to become citizens of Israel.

The billionaire’s current real time net worth is $11.5 billion (£8.63 billion). “As a new citizen, Abramovich is exempt from taxes in Israel on income earned abroad for 10 years, and need not declare the sources of that income for the same period,” the Times of Israel said.

A few days ago, the mainstream media was abuzz with the news that the UK authorities have yet to grant a UK visa to Roman Abramovich. The Guardian, UK, wrote: “Roman Abramovich’s UK visa has expired and British authorities have not yet issued him with a new one…”
