Unic Press UK: The former president of the Republic of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, would be prosecuted for various crimes, including corruption and fraud, the country’s National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said.
“After consideration of the matter, I am of the view that there are reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution of Mr Zuma on the charges listed in the indictment,” the chief state prosecutor Shaun Abrahams said during a press briefing on Friday.
There are 16 charges to be leveled against the former president; and one of it is in relation to fraudulent arms deal in the 1990s that the prosecutors withdrew as Zuma ran for the presidency in 2009.
