UN Approves Further Sanctions On North Korea Over Nuclear/Missiles Program

Unic Press UK: In a unanimously adopted resolution, the United Nations Security Council on Friday imposed further sanctions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) over the communist State’s missile/nuclear program.

The additional punitive measures approved by the 15-member Council includes that all UN Member States shall:

“prohibit the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer to the DPRK of crude oil, refined petroleum products, and various types of equipment and raw materials…  “repatriate all DPRK nationals earning income in that Member State’s jurisdiction and all DPRK government safety oversight attachés monitoring DPRK workers abroad immediately but no later than 24 months,”unless the Member State determined that the national’s repatriation is prohibited under applicable national and international law, or if that national is a national of that Member State,” the UN News Centre said.

The United States President, Donald Trump, reacted on Twitter, saying “The World wants Peace, not Death!”

The North Korean government August 2017 threatened to make “an enveloping fire in the areas around Guam with medium-to-long-range strategic ballistic rocket Hwasong-12 in order to contain the U.S. major military bases on Guam”, in response to what the communist state described as a series of U.S. aggression, viz.,

  • Test-firing ICBM Minuteman-3 at its Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
  • Mobilizing the nuclear strategic bombers currently stationed at its Anderson Air Force Base on Guam in the Pacific.
  • Staging a mock nuclear strike drill targeting the strategic resources of North Korea.
