Unic Press UK: China’s parliament is considering an amendment that would give legal backing to tougher penalties on anyone contemptuous to the national anthem.
A draft amendment was already been submitted for the lawmakers’ deliberation at the bi-monthly session of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, which started Monday, Xinhua reports.
In the event that the amendment is agreed by the lawmakers, any body who disrespects the national anthem may face punishments of up to three years of imprisonment.
