Unic Press UK: 40-years-old boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., who retired in 2015, today in Las Vegas, United States, defeated the UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor, 29-years-old.
In the 10th round, the referee ended the match after Mayweather’s several hits on McGregor left the unprofessional boxer virtually concussed.
The former five-weight world champion, Floyd Mayweather, has therefore extended his record to 50-0. This new record has eclipsed Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 fight win/record.
After the fight, Floyd Mayweather said:
“He is a tough competitor and we gave the fans what they wanted to see. He was a lot better than I thought. He was a tough competitor, but I was the better man. I guaranteed everybody this would not go the distance. Boxing’s reputation was on the line.”
The fight was, perhaps, driven by Mayweather’s ‘love’ of money. It was estimated that the fight generated over half a billion dollars in revenue, and Floyd Mayweather smiled to the bank with at least $200 million [£155 million]
