There have been diverging reactions to Trump’s decision to ban transgender people.
Senator John McCain, R-Arizona, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services said: “There is no reason to force service members who are able to fight, train and deploy, to leave the military regardless of their gender identity”.
The American Civil Liberties Union described the decision as “outrageous and desperate”.
Nancy Pelosi, D-California’s 12th District, the Democratic Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives vigorously condemned Trump for what she described as a cruel and arbitrary decision that would humiliate transgender people.
Rep. Vicky Hartzler, R-Missouri 4th Congressional District, welcomed Trump’s decision to end further service of transgender [wo]men in the U.S. military.
