Voice of Nigeria: The National Judicial Council in Nigeria, NJC has ordered the Heads of Court to reinstate Justice Adeniyi Ademola and six other judges who were suspended in October last year over allegations of corruption.
The Judges are to resume work with effect from June 7th 2017.
The NJC said the decision was reached at the 82nd Meeting of the Council.
According to the NJC, the decision was taken following the inability of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami to charge five of the six judges with any offence as communicated to the Council about eight months ago.
Out of the eight judges, whom Malami indicated to the Council that he would prosecute, only three of them were charged.
Those charged were, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, and Justice Ademola, who was subsequently discharged and acquitted.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami had informed the NJC that his office was ready to prosecute eight Judges accused of alleged corruption.
The affected judges who are asked to resume duty include, Justice Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court; Justice Uwani Abba Aji of the Court of Appeal and Justice Hydiazira Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court.
Others are Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High, Justice Musa Kurya of the Federal High Court and Justice Agbadu James Fishim of National Industrial Court of Nigeria.
