President Trump Says He Might Cancel Daily Press Briefings

Unic Press UK: White House daily press briefings, one of the windows through which the United States government communicates to the Amercian people [showing commitment, accountability, transparency and honesty in its dealings] is under threat.

If it is shut down as President Trump seems to contemplate, it would be the ‘end’ of one of the platforms where journalists converge to throw a barrage of questions on a range of issues relating to governance and international affairs.

During an interview with Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro on Friday, U.S. president Donald Trump seems to raise concern over the answers that had been purveyed by his communication team during daily press briefing.

Trump said that all press briefing on behalf of his government might be stopped, then substituted with “a piece of paper with a perfectly accurate answer.”

“When we have those press conferences… this is crazy I mean… we do it in a different way. We do it through a piece of paper with a perfectly accurate answer,” said Trump.

President Trump went ahead, saying that he could do it all by himself:

“We don’t have press conferences… we just don’t have them unless I have them every two weeks and I do them myself, we don’t have them. I think it’s a good idea.”

The White House press secretary, Sean Spicer had previously voiced out the challenges of Trump’s communication team, saying:

“sometimes we don’t get an opportunity to get in to see him and get his full thinking. We work very hard to get you the most accurate and up-to-date information every day.”
