Trump: I Would Be ‘Honored’ To Meet Kim Jong Un

Unic Press UK: United States president Donald Trump said Monday he would be “honored” to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“If it would be appropriate for me to meet with him, I would absolutely, I would be honored to do that” (Trump: 2 May 2017)

Trump made the comment during an interview with Bloomberg News.

The White House press secretary, Sean Spicer set forth to clarify the issues raised by Trump’s comment. Spicer emphasised that the U.S. president will meet Kim “under the right circumstances.”

Meanwhile, a U.S. aircraft carrier and several warships are currently in the Korean Peninsula, making many believe that the Trump administration might have concluded that any further nuclear tests by North Korea could lead to a military response from the United States.

North Korea

North Korea, a nuclear armed country claims to be ready for war should the U.S. cross a red line, saying the U.S. should be held accountable in the event of a catastrophe in the Korean Peninsula.

“Our revolutionary forces are combat-ready to sink a US nuclear powered aircraft carrier with a single strike,” wrote Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party. 

Russia, China call for restraint, caution

Russia, China called on all parties [United States, South Korea, North Korea and so on] to deescalate the crisis, saying that North Korea should suspend missile and nuclear tests, while the United States and South Korea should end joint military drills.
