German Chancellor Merkel Meet President Trump In The White House

Unic Press UK: The United States president Donald Trump and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel met in the White House, discussing a range of issues that affect the two countries, NATO, trade, immigration.

Excerpts from a press briefing after the meeting:

“I reiterated to Chancellor Merkel my strong support for NATO as well as the need for our NATO allies to pay their fair share for the cost of defense. Many nations owe vast sums of money from the past years, and it’s very unfair to the United States. These nations must pay what they owe. The close friendship between America and Germany is built on our shared values we cherish individual rights We uphold the rule of law and we seek peace among nations. Our alliance is a symbol of strength cooperation to the  “foundation of a very very hopeful future,” Trump said. The U.S. president also said that immigration remain a privilege, not a right.

“I’ve always said it is much much better to talk to one another… We talked about the international situation… As regards the shared interests that we have, let me look back into the past. We the Germans owe a lot to the United States of America, particularly the economic rise of Germany. I was gratified to know that the President underlined how important he thinks NATO is,“ said the German Chancellor.

Merkel further said that Germany is increasing its defense spending. She expressed appreciation for Trump’s administration support of Minsk agreement.
