Buhari Commends Nigerians For Support, Tight-lipped On His Resumption Date

Unic Press UK: President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed appreciation to the Nigerian people for their support as he continues to stay in the United Kingdom for medical reasons.

The president’s message was announced on Tuesday by his special adviser on media and publicity Femi Adesina:

“President Muhammadu Buhari thanks millions of Nigerians who have been sending good wishes and praying for his health and well-being in mosques and churches throughout the country. President Buhari wishes to reassure Nigerians that there is no cause for worry. During his normal annual checkup, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned.”

Buhari has spent thirty days away from the shores of Nigeria. He commenced a short vacation in the United Kingdom on the 23rd January 2017 to end on the 6th February 2017, but his initial resumption date was cancelled. The Nigerian government has yet to make public the precise date Buhari will end his vacation or inform the Nigerian people the date their president will resume work.

Prior to the initial date he was to resume work after his vacation, which was the 6th February 2017, the Nigerian people were informed by one of the president’s special advisers Femi Adesina that the president had communicated to the National Assembly [The Senate and The House of Representatives] that he had to extend his vacation to “complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.”
