Unic Press UK: In the course of an interview held today with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, U.S. President Donald Trump renewed/defended his disposition towards an entente with the Russian government that is led by Vladimir Putin.
Bill O’Reilly: “Do you respect Putin?”
President Trump: “I do respect him”
Bill O’Reilly: “Why?”
President Trump: “Well, I respect a lot of people, but that doesn’t mean I’ll get along with him. He is a leader of his country. I say it’s better to get along with Russia than not, and if Russia helps us in the fight against ISIS, which is a major fight, and the Islamic terrorism all over the world, that’s a good thing. Will I get along with him? I have no idea.”
Bill O’Reilly: “Putin is a killer?”
President Trump: “A lot of killers. We’ve got a lot of killers. What, do you think our country is so innocent?”

In December 2016, Trump eulogized Putin, calling him a very smart character, for not retaliating when the U.S. administration under Barack Obama imposed a series of sanctions on Russia and some of its citizens over the alleged hacking of U.S. servers to favour Trump in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
