Unic Press UK: Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari would proceed on a short vacation, from the 23rd January 2017 until the 6th February 2017.
President Buhari has notified the National Assembly [the Senate and the House of Representatives] in line with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, which reads:
“Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he is proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary such functions shall be discharged by the Vice-President as Acting President.”
During his short vacation, the Nigerian president will undergo medical examination, says the special adviser to the president on media and publicity.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would act as president of Nigeria until 6th February when Buhari is expected to resume.
