West African Countries To Tell President Jammeh To Quit

Unic Press UK: Senegal says West African heads of state from Nigeria, Liberia, Ghana and Sierra Leone would convene in The Gambia on Tuesday to prevail on Yahya AJJ Jammeh Babili Mansa to hand over power.

The Gambia’s president, Yahya AJJ Jammeh Babili Mansa, who had earlier conceded defeat to Adama Barrow reneged on Friday saying:

“After a thorough investigation, I have decided to reject the outcome of the recent election. I lament serious and unacceptable abnormalities which have reportedly transpired during the electoral process… I recommend fresh and transparent elections which will be officiated by a god-fearing and independent electoral commission”

The presidential election results from the country’s independent electoral commission had declared that Barrow was the winner with circa 45 percent of the votes against Jammeh’s 36 percent.
