U.S. Election: Clinton’s Lead In The Popular Vote Circa 2 Million

Unic Press UK: Hillary Clinton, the Democratic party presidential candidate during the United States 2016 election, is undisputed winner of the popular votes despite losing the election to president-elect Donald Trump of the Republican party.

As of the 23rd November 2016:

  • The total votes in favour of Hillary was 63,964,956, while Donald had garnered 62,139,188.
  •  In terms of the votes on electoral college, which was the basis for deciding a winner, Donald amassed 290 (which is 20 in excess of the what was required to win the presidential election). Hillary scooped 232.

Michigan results yet to be announced will not change the fact that Hillary has won the popular votes; and Donald is the president-elect.

In 2000, Al Gore of the Democratic party lost to Republican party’s George W. Bush despite winning the popular votes.
