Osinbajo’s Meeting With Saraki, Dogara, APC Governors Ends In Deadlock

Guardian / Nigeria: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s meeting with the Senate President Bukola Saraki, House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara and the five governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ended in deadlock yesterday.

The agenda of the meeting, which lasted over two hours at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, our sources said, included the alleged lopsided appointments, the Federal Government’s $30 billion loan request, among other issues.

Indications that no decision was reached emerged when none of the five governors: Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger) and Jubrila Bindo (Adamawa), was ready to comment on the outcome of the meeting.

They clustered briefly outside the lobby leading to the office of the vice president and were openly arguing and glossing over a document. They left one after another.

Saraki, pestered by newsmen, said the meeting was convened to come up with ideas that would make the country better.

His words: “I am sure the vice president will issue a statement. But it is nothing of great alarm. It is all for good governance, inclusion and collaboration with all arms of government. The state governors were here, National Assembly executives. We just came up with ideas on how to make things work even better, that is all.”
