Reuben Abati Held In Custody By EFCC

Unic Press UK: Goodluck Jonathan’s former special adviser on media, Reuben Abati, is facing interrogation at the hands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Our sources say that Abati, who was at the EFCC office in Abuja on Monday, the 24th October 2016, is being held in custody over allegations that he received millions of naira from the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

The Nigerian government is prosecuting Dasuki who is alleged to have unlawfully lavished public funds on government officials, chieftains of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), and a number of influential Nigerians. He is facing a 19-count charge of money laundering, fraud and criminal breach of trust. The allegation against Dasuki includes that he unlawfully used $50 million of public funds to promote the election campaigns of the PDP and misused $2 billion that was earmarked for the purchase of arms for the Nigerian military.
