Guardian / Nigeria: Thousands of villagers from communities in Southern Kaduna, yesterday, staged a peaceful protest in Gwantu, Headquarters of Sanga Local Council, against alleged attacks and killings by Fulani herdsman, as well as the confiscation of lands for cattle grazing reserves, by the state government.
Among the protesters was a retired Assistant Superintendent of Police, Gambo Usman, whose wife and all five children were allegedly killed by herdsmen, in Kobin village, about five kilometres to Gwantu.
Addressing the protesters, President of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Dr. Musa Solomon, blamed Governor Nasir El-Rufai, for not putting measures to arrest the situation in the area.
While also accusing him of funding a joint military task force to recover rustled cows and arresting bandits in Birnin Gwari forests in the eastern part of the state, the SOKAPU leader alleged that El-Rufai has done nothing to secure those in southern part of Kaduna against the herdsmen attacks.
“Today, we have come here, irrespective of our religion, political affiliations and ethnic groups, to inform you that we are sad witnesses to all the evil that has come over Sanga and many parts of Southern Kaduna and that we share your pains, anger and frustration.
